A single snowflake

A single snowflake floating from the sky

Trying to find its way to earth

Guided by the breath of night

To safety or so it seemed

Happiness, Hope, Passion filled it

As it awaited its descent

Nearing the lights of the city

Twinkling like itself

Up above it all

A picture perfect shot

Seemingly insignificant it looked

But to itself, it was a path it had longed for to lead it to the world of dreams

Deceived by the fog of the sky

The breeze builds and builds. AΒ whirlwind of passion

Overcomes it as it desperately graspsΒ for something

But the air inundates it. Trapped the snowflake surrenders.

Hurt, hoaxed and hopeless

The world of its dreams crushed

Like a slave to its master it was

Forced to submit on a journey to the unknown

In solitude.

Heya guys,

So I know I have been telling some of you guys I had something unusual and exciting planned so *drum roll please* this is it. Hope you aren’t disappointed πŸ˜‰

I have told some of you guys I was thinking about maybe doing a poetry section on my blog although I had never written a poem and still you guys were so supportive and encouraging that now that I have written one I decided to share it with you guys. Sorry to disappoint some of you but I don’t think I will be doing this reguarly simply because I still find it hard to write them but maybe I will share one rarely when they come to mind.

So sharing this with you guys was a really big step for me scratch that it was a huge leap for me and here’s the reason(s)

Firstly I am super shy about sharing any of my work whether that be an essay or a piece of creative writing because I am always scared I will be judged for it or it won’t be good enough or something. But I decided if I don’t share it with you guys, my supportiveΒ little internet family, then with who, right? Also, I mean I stand for being proud of what you have produced or who you are. I stand for being confident and I created this space so we could all be ourselves and connect over things in life so I would be going against my own motto by not sharingΒ it. I can’t expect you guys and shouldn’t promote you guys to be so confident and shameless if I can’t do that to show and empower you as well. If that makes sense? Also despite me being already in the later years of my secondary school education aka I am going to finish school in a couple years, I have never written a poem before!! WHAT? I know how crazy is that!! This is my first poem EVER! But here’s the thing I just couldn’t write poems before. I don’t know what changed but before I just thought poems were stories but brokenΒ up into lines that aren’t sentences and then on a larger scale broken up into stanzas that just took up more space. I still don’t know what makes them different from broken upΒ sentences of a story but I think I have finally establishedΒ that there definitely is a difference. Poems … I don’t know but they make me feel more emotions and more deeply …. in a weird kind of way. I can’t put it into words nor can I give you a definition of a poem because honestly I think the whole beauty of them expressing emotions and little things we take for granted is that we are left speechless and there’s no word to describe what we feel,Β really, and there’s no word to describe how a poem does that so yeah. I know some of you guys might disagree but hey that just makes sense in my confused brain πŸ™‚Β  This poem is also very personal to me because it’s about how I was going through and I am still going through a tough phase with some of my friends and I feel so alone sometimes like a single snowflake falling from the sky trying to find its footing before it melts. If you are new and don’t know what I am talking about I explain it all in one of my other posts: A group but not really(a personal story). I just feel like my life is a bit of a mess and I am a bit of a mess right now but I know I will work it out eventually and then when I heard there might be snow in the next couple of days and there already was today in some regions in the UK the picture of a single snowflake came to my mind and words just kind of assembled themselves in my brain and urged me to write them down and before I even realised what I had done, I had written a poem. My first ever poem and it’s about my feelings and emotions and everything I always wanted it to be. So I am so so happy about it. It’s not perfect and I realise that but hey, it’s my first one.

Do feel free to give me some advice and feedback in the comments. Love you all and thanks for staying so patient with me while I sort through some things. I always find it useful and almost therapeutic to write it all down on my blog and then I find some people relate and it just makes the world seem a little more friendly and a little less lonely and assures me that you don’t have to be perfect because, in reality, no one is πŸ™‚

Well, In my point of view I liked it a lot. We don’t always know what will happen in the future, what our future holds, your poem reminds us this.

This is such a beautifully penned verse. The metaphor runs so deep. “A whirlwind of passion/Overcomes it as it desperately grasps for something” absolutely love these lines. Keep up the good work. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Surely expect to see more of works. Following you right away. πŸ™‚

Thanks you so much. What I love about poems is that it’s co open to interpretation I write this because I felt like my friends were the “wind” and I trusted them to guide me but relaly they brought so much chaos and turmoil and heartache I don’t know what to do and how to act and if I shoudl forgive them? Etc. But one person told me that they thought it represents how we never know what the future holds and that we pave our way through obstacles eventually. Which I thought was a beautiful analogy but what about you? This is my first ever poem written like ever and I am so so happy at how it turned out and these compliments only encourage me and build my confidence so thank you so so much!! Haha I am still kenw to poetry so I am sorry to disappoint but if you read the bit after it you would know that I am still an amateur and I still struggle with it so it won’t be a regular thing I am afraid. I will still post whatever comes to mind. Thank you so so much for the follow xxx

Anytime, Girl. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Sure would love to know more about your beautiful thoughts. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
Poetry is a struggle for me as well dear. Only in this last month, I’ve probably written more than 20 poems, long and short, some meaningful, others just silly ramblings and all my 18 years of life, before this 1 month, I haven’t even written 5 poems. Lol! You’d find the same amateur in me if you visit my blog and take a look at the poems I’ve shared. Do check them out! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ But fellow bloggers have been a great inspiration and reading poems such as yours definitely helps, of how we can use simple words with such amazing analogies. That’s a beautiful thought about friends being the wind to guide. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
Keep posting whateevr comes to your mind, for that way, your writings’ more original and from the heart. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
        And follow for follow? ❀ ❀ ❀

Thank you so much I don’t think I have ever heard my thoughts being called “beautiful” That really made my day! Haha. Wow but you have spiked like crazy from under 5 in what 18 years to 20 in a month I can’t do that!! You are certainly not an amateur in my eyes. I don’t even know hwo to begin to start/write a poem because that one just came to me because I was having a tough month heck term with my friends and I felt so depressive so emotion overwhelmed me but now I don’t have that and the words don’t just come to me like they did. It was my only poem and unlike you, I wasn’t even skilled enough to write 5 before this literally was my first ever. Haha. I will definitely check out some of our stuff. I am just extremely busy this week. But do remind me later !!
        Love,

Ha ha ha not really. Once you start spending more time with writing, poetry is easy enough. It’s a powerful play with words which will start coming to you automatically after the first few struggles. One poem in my blog named The Lights, I wrote it last October and it took me 1 hour to write. There’s another written over a number of days, whenever, I felt some thoughts coming and it it suited the theme of the poem. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ There’s yet another that I wrote some 15 days earlier and it took me only 15 mins…..You see, it’s just about expressing your thoughts. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I’m sure you can do that very well.
        Take your time dear. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Keep smiling. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ And keep thinking. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
        Love loads. ❀ ❀

I posted first on 1st February, out of a moment’s thought. I didn’t blog for more than 20 days and then posted again around the last week of of Feb. Had to stop again for exams. Well, exams are on still now but we just got a week long gap between 2 exams. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ So I posted again. All total I have 8 posts and blog’s still under construction. I even changed my theme yesterday, Thanks to my whimsical nature lol!. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ So basically I am very recent in this field.
        Well, what about you??
        And you’re welcome dear. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ And yeah, don’t give up. Keep trying. Poetry’s there. It ain’t going away. U’ll just have to catch it sometimes. ❀ ❀ ❀ ❀ ❀

Umm it’s complicated I started a few years ago but only really did it very irregularly and only for 2 months or so. Looking back on them they aren’t my best work but yeah. Then I started again last September I think around that time yeah. Wow but for only 2 months blogging you already have over 100 followers that’s impressive. What would you suggest to get more exposure to my blog? Also do you follow a lot of the blogs that follow you? Because like I only follow 20 or so blogs in comparison. xxx

The best way to get exposure is to hop from this blog to that, read people’s posts and comment your thoughts about the writing, whether you liked or you have something else to say, nonetheless appreciating their efforts. Sharing is the key. And it takes time. And the last few days of Feb, I’ve spent hours on only visiting people’s blogs.
Yeah, you do need to follow other blogs and probably 20 won’t just do. If you want to interact with your followers more often and get them to read your posts, you need to read theirs and comment on them as well. I follow a lot of blogs that don’t follow me, but they are for inspirations. Those followers whom I don’t follow, atleast I try to visit their blogs sometimes and share my thoughts on their posts. That way, they visit my blog as well. My Following numbers and Followers numbers are almost same, if not the former is more. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
Also, I hope you are using appropriate tags and categories for your posts. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
You may participate in daily prompts as well. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
But most importantly, like I already said, even when you are not posting, have conversations with other bloggers, like and comment on their posts and follow them, if you like their content. πŸ™‚

I just don’t know where to find other blogger because I have like a specific taste in blogs if you know what I mean and the blogs that shows up under recent or suggested in the search place aren’t my taste so I don’t know where to find one xx

I just use the tags that seem appropriate to my theme and the thing I am talking about. xx

I usually don’t go by the Suggested or Recent options. I hardly find any that suits my taste. I usually hop from one blog to another from the comment section of my followers or the ones that I am following! Searching that way yields better results or so is what I feel. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

So I kinda was surprised I could even write one but then I put so much effort into it to be proud of it! xx No I just read yours and it’s fantastic. It’s also so much longer like you said in the intro it’s short and it was so long!! That must have taken you ages πŸ™‚ Haha. Do you just sit down and start typing on your iPad and the words come to you or? xxx

Often I read something and inspiration just strikes me and if I don’t get it down I lose it. There are a few poems that I work for a while on but most of the time I just leave my 1st draft as is. My mum is also very honest with my work and I know that if she likes it a) she’s not kidding so b) it must be pretty good. Thank you for the compliment – I never share a lot of my work in fear of being judged negatively so this has really boosted my confidence with sharing more of my poems and writing. I’m working on some stories at the moment and thinking of doing a serial type thing. Should I put it out there? Thank you again – you gave me something good in a not great day! πŸ˜€

Oh first I am sorry you didn’t have a good day. wanna talk about it? If it’s private you can e-mail me instead or you don’t want then it’s fine as well. I am happy I could better it though ❀

Oh yeah most of my poems stem from overwhleming emotions that I can't control and so words just kinda form in my head and I write them down and before I know it, I have a poem in front of me. so i can only really write anything when I am in overdrive with my emotions on a calm day i struggle to write them.

I totally get it that's why I was so nervous about sharing mine because not only was it personal it was my freaking FIRST like it was a big deal to me. But then I thought if I don't share it here in my safe space where no one will judge me because they chose to follow me and be friends and also where I am anonymous then where will I ever get the courage to share it? Like this is the best place to do so. So I just clicked Publish before I could change my mind. Haha. I bet it had boosted your confidence but that's what it did for me as well. And it's a wonderful feeling isn't it? So although it seemed bad at first it turned out great right? And I try to think of that each time I hesitate I just think what's the worst that can happen? Also if I don't go for it I will regret it later you know? Now or never! So in my crazy impulsive opinion yes!!! Go for it girl and you already got one supporter for sure: ME! I can't wait to read your (I'm sure) amazing series of poems! Love, G xxx

Regarding the poems I have only written two in my life as in these two so it’s so wonderful to hear that you like them and it’s such a boost of confidence I loved your recent poem as well. It was really capturing and entrancing almost! I love it! xxx
